Eric Stirling owns and operates the historic West Branch Pond Camps in the heart of Maine’s Hundred Mile Wilderness. He is the fourth generation owner of the Camps which have been in his family since 1910. Eric grew up at the Camps and was home schooled though grade school before attending Gould Academy and then Bates College. He graduated in 1997 with a BA in Economics and went on to try his hand at organic farming, retail management, and teaching. After three years teaching algebra and running the high ropes course at the Hyde School in Bath, Eric returned to the north woods to continue his family’s sporting camp heritage. Eric and his wife Mildred now live at the Camps restoring the old log cabins and enjoying their many customers from far and wide. Besides being a founding member of MWGO, Eric serves on the boards of the Maine Sporting Camp Association and the Moosehead Marine Museum. Whenever he can escape his daily responsibilities he heads to Allagash Lake or goes bushwacking in search of old logging camps.
