Mahoosuc Guide Service Traditional Moose Hunts

Website

Traditional Moose Hunts
If you want to learn how to hunt moose, not just bag one, perhaps you should come with Mahoosuc. We specialize in traditional subsistence moose hunts. We hunt by foot or canoe, in remote areas where you are very unlikely to encounter other hunters. Due to the remoteness it is usually necessary to skin and quarter the moose in the field. We are more concerned about good quality meat than the size of the rack. To honor the animal's life we've taken, we will process and use the entire animal including the brain and other organs, smoke tanning the hide, and making bone butter.

Itinerary, Accommodations, Meals, and Fees
Hunters should plant to arrive Saturday Evening before the week of the Hunt. Accommodations Saturday night will be in our timber frame lodge. Sunday will be spent getting ready for the hunt (no Sunday hunting in Maine) sighting rifles, practice moose calling, and then transport by 20' freighter canoe to spike camp. During the hunt we stay in the field in canvas wall tents heated with a woodstove. The fee for the one wee moose hunt is $1,900 per person and includes everything – meals, lodging, and transportation.
